Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, but how will you honor the Mexican victory at the battle of Puebla? Aside from downing pitcher after pitcher of margaritas, here are some events to accompany your drinking.

Pliny the Younger is not the only beer with all the hype. Fullerton, CA based Bootlegger’s Brewery is releasing their specialty – the Knuckle Sandwich DIPA (Double India Pale Ale;
same beer-style as the Younger) starting tomorrow. The release weekend will kick off Thursday, February 23 until Sunday, February 26. Owner Aaron Barkenhagen released a newsletter this afternoon stating the limited availability of the brew. The Knuckle Sandwich DIPA will not be distributed to retailers, only bars on kegs as “this time around we had to make a little less than December due to other production constraints.” There is a three bottle/one growler purchase limit per person. Additionally, Aaron and the team will be celebrating their fourth birthday on Friday, April 13. 401 South Richman Ave., Fullerton, CA 92832. 714-871-2337.
Late notice, but starting at 6 PM on January 30 in Orange, CA, Bootlegger’s Brewery and The Bruery are teaming up with an event at the Bruery Provisions. Ten taps will feature popular brews from Bootlegger’s plus collaborations that they’ve created with the Bruery including Chocosaurus Rye, a representation of each brewing style: “a dark rye lager that was finished with cacao nibs and vanilla beans.”
Two other beers from The Bruery will also be released, Mother Funker is a sour blonde all aged in Chardonnay barrels for several years which is “a seriously sour beer, perhaps the most sour beer we’ve produced so far.” Sour In The Rye! makes it’s return, brewed with almost 40% rye malt and also barrel aged for over a year. 143 N. Glassell, Orange, CA 92866. 714-997-2337.
Christmas Time. Yes! Let’s do this thing! I love Christmas. As my wife will tell anyone who’ll listen, I have the sensibilities of a small child. I get teary and weepy every time I see Mickey’s Christmas Carol. Let me tell you something- best Christmas special ever. Yes, even better than Jingle All The Way … slightly.
