The Wilshire in Santa Monica is having a backyard pig-roast

Wilshire Restaurant in Santa Monica is hosting a backyard pig roast ($55) to benefit Share our Strength’s Taste of the Nation on April 22 from 12 -4 PM. Chefs Nyesha Arrington of Wilshire and Chris Crary of Whist will prepare a whole pig including pulled pork, pork belly, spare ribs, and pig ears. Mixologist Devon Espinosa of Pour Vous and Michel Dozois of Neve Ice will serve Trashcan Punches while craft beer from Firestone Walker Brewing Co., Smog City Brewing, and Haven Gastropub + Brewery will also be available.

This event includes invites for contestants from Los Angeles’ Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, and Top Chef Just Dessert to enjoy the potluck with guests. SOL Cocina offers classic views of Newport Harbor while dining from your boat

Sol Cocina is welcoming back “Dock & Dine Season” for its third year at the Balboa Marina in Newport Beach. The restaurant will provide traditional Coastal Mexican cuisine and dockside catering during the spring and summer months. “Dock & Dine” will offer five tasting menu packages such as the AZUL ($75 for a group of six) and the TACOS SOL($150 for a group of 10). SOL favorites including Grilled Carne Asada, Kurobuta Pork Carnitas, Lemon-Garlic Chicken, Grilled Fish Zarandeado, and Carne Asada Tacos Vampiros along with salsas, guacamole, and Borracho black beans with cotixa cheese will be featured.

While dockside catering and traditional SOL catering such as corporate dinners, luncheons, cocktail receptions, private tequila dinners, and large-scale galas are offered year-round, SOL uses the view of the bay and increased beach tourism to highlight their catering capabilities during “Dock & Dine Season.” SOL also hosts customized private tequila tastings with over 60 tequilas. Events are available in a private bar with a dedicated bartender. New Belgium Brewing announces 2012 Tour de Fat schedule

New Belgium Brewing has announced the 2012 Tour de Fat schedule hitting 15 cities across the country including new to this year’s line up, Atlanta and DC. In its 13th season, Tour de Fat is a celebration of bicycles and the people who use them, making Eco-friendly decisions. Festivities include a costumed bicycle parade, local food, an unusual bike contest, and of course, New Belgium beer. The free event is expected to exceed the $2 million mark for money raised in 2012. Stages are alternatively powered and created with recycled materials, trucks and transport use bio-fuel sourced from recycled waste oils, all vendors operate ‘off the grid’, and proceeds directly benefit trail maintenance, safety education, and lobbying for better bicycle communities.

Shade Hotel announces its first annual beer-fest

Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach is co-hosting its first annual “Waves of Grain Beerfest” on April 22 from 3 – 6 PM, along with Gene Simmons’ Rock & Brews of El Segundo and BREWCO of Manhattan Beach. The event includes 25 local and regional breweries providing samples as well as a chance to chat with brew masters and senior representatives. Food will be available at an additional cost provided by Mucho Ultima Mexicana offering guests hand-crafted tacos while Shade’s restaurant and lounge is preparing barbeque tri-tip sandwiches, turkey and beef burgers, and pretzel bites.
