Your guide to Valentine’s Day, drinks and eats in L.A., part two

The first time around we gave you plenty of options to please your significant other on Valentine’s Day, but it seems that Los Angeles restaurants have more V-day spirit than we could cover in one guide. Here is part two.

Drago Centro in downtown LA with chef Ian Gresik presents a special Valentine’s Day tasting menu with optional wine pairing. The menu will include: l’Insalata di Uova e Asparagi, Gli Spaghetti alla Carbonara, l’Anatra, and La Mousse al Cioccolato. Beachwood BBQ is presenting a four-course dinner and beer pairing for $50 per person. An appetizer of baby greens, strawberries, candied pecans, herb goat cheese fritter, and meyer lemon vinaigrette will be followed by pan seared scallops as well as bacon spinach and fontina stuffed smoked pork tenderloin. Flourless chocolate torte will be on deck for dessert. Dinner will be served at both the Seal Beach and Long Beach locations beginning at 6pm, and the regular menu will still be available. Chaya is offering Valentine’s Day dinner at any of its three establishments in Beverly Hills, Downtown Los Angeles, and Venice.

Chaya Beverly Hills will offer a three-course menu created by Executive Chef Harutaka Kishi featuring: Amuse Bouche of Fanny Bay Oyster, Foie-Gras au Torchon and Mole Rubbed Hamachi or Chilled Almond Soup, as well as either Roasted Spice Venison with Black Garlic Puree, Basil Steamed Loup de Mer Ocean or Pan Roasted Ocean Trout. Chaya Downtown with Executive Chef Kenjo Atsushi, will feature an Assortment Appetizer Platter with House Cured Salmon Tartar and Foie-Gras Ballotine with Pomegranate, Riesling, and Grape Must. Executive Chef Pascal Lorange at Fig & Olive in West Hollywood will serve dinner for $52 per person. The meal will include a choice of Santa Barbara Prawns, Veal Carpaccio, or a half dozen oysters to start, followed by either Roasted Rack of Lamb or Grilled Truffle Chicken Paillard. Napa Valley Grille in Westwood Village has a three-course prix fixe menu by new Executive Chef Taylor Boudreaux. Selections include Roasted Sonoma Rack of Lamb with Fingerling Potatoes, Marinated Fennel, or Lamb Jus along with Chateaubriand (for two) with Yukon Potato Purée, Sautéed Bloomsburg Spinach, and Red Wine Reduction. Cafe Del Rey is presenting à la carte selections from Executive Chef Daniel Roberts from February 10 – 12, or a three-course prix fixe menu on Valentine’s Day. Dishes such as House-Cured Salmon with buckwheat blini, white sturgeon caviar, lemon crème fraîche, and micro chives; and Pan-Seared Scallops with parsnip purée, mustard greens, roasted fingerling potatoes, and vanilla-saffron sauce. Caza Azul Cantina in Westwood offers a four-course menu for Valentine’s Day for $49.95 per person. Menu Items will include: Tiradito de Hamachi, yellowtail with avocado, rocoto chile in olive oil, lime juice, and ponzu sauce, Aguachile de Camarón, fresh shrimp marinated in a spicy lime serrano pepper sauce with onions, avocado, fresh cilantro, and cucumbers, topped with extra virgin olive oil, as well as Medallones de Filete al Limón, Halibut Adobado, and Pechuga XI-XE, with a sweet Flan de Coco dessert. Cecconi’s West Hollywood will be serving either a three-course meal featuring black truffles ($70) or a champagne and oyster special ($50) accompanied by a live jazz band. The Valentine’s Day meal will have appetizers such as Cream of Cauliflower Soup and Wood Oven Roasted Scallops. Sushi Roku in Pasadena will be featuring a four-course menu for $85 a couple which includes starters like Snow Crab Salad and Filet Mignon Wrapped Asparagus. Executive Chef Greg Daniels presents Valentine’s Day Haven, at both the Orange and Pasadena Haven Gastropub locations, for $40 a person ($20 for beer or wine pairing). Orange Haven will have California Spiny Lobster to start and choice of Roasted Venison Loin or Loch Duart Salmon, while Pasadena Haven begins with Purple Baby Artichoke and follows with either Elk Loin or Loch Duart Salmon. A Valentine’s dinner at Marino Ristorante will cost $65 a person and will get you a four-course meal with items such as Antipasto di polipo or Torre di Portobello, Mezze Maniche Macini All’Astice in salsa Rosa or Pasticciata Verde, then (Secondi) Merluzzo Alla Marechiaro or Filetto con Funghi Porcini. If you’d like to try something difficult to pronounce, Executive Chef Dakota Weiss at NINETHIRTY at The W in Westwood will feature pissaladiere and bisque de pomme de terre blanche, followed by either rouget en papillote or osso bucco of l’agneau.
