March 20
On Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 7:00 PM, The LAB Brewing Co. in Agoura Hills will host a five-course beer pairing dinner with Petaluma, CA-based Lagunitas Brewing Company. Chef Moez Megji, brewmaster Roger “Dr Hops” Bot and a Lagunitas representative will be onsite to talk about the pairings. On Tuesday, March 20 starting at 6:30 PM. Napa Valley Grille in Westwood, CA is presenting a four-course wine dinner ($95 per person) cooked up by Executive Chef Taylor Boudreaux. On Wednesday, March 21 at 7:30 PM Steingarten in West L.A. will host another cocktail focused dinner. Recently named 30 Under 30: LA’s Hottest Up-and-Comers, chef Ricardo Morales will create off menu items to pair with whiskeys from the Heaven Hill Distilleries American Whiskey Collection (Bernheim Original Straight Wheat Whiskey, Evan Williams Single Barrel, Elijah Craig 12 Year Bourbon, Rittenhouse 100 Straight Rye). On March 24, The Royce at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena is hosting a four-course lunch inspired by the French painter Monet. Local artist and lecturer Nori Green will speak during the lunch regarding Monet’s life, paintings, and culinary endeavors. Chef David Féau‘s menu will include Green – On Green (Legumes, Flowers and Green Leaves), Dover Sole – Chanterelle (Dover Sole Fillet Normande with Chanterelle Spring Onion), Chicken – Crayfish (Roasted Chicken with Crayfish Sauce and Watercress Salad), and Caramelized Apple Tart Tatin for dessert. On March 28 at 7 PM, The Pub at Golden Road Brewing in Atwater Village and Upland-based Hangar 24 will be celebrating their first collaboration beer, the Valentin, with a five-course dinner on March 28 at 7 PM ($50 per person). The Valentin is a 6.5% ABV French Saison made with blood oranges which was brewed on Valentine’s Day by GRB’s Jon Carpenter and Hanger 24’s Kevin Wright. On Wednesday, March 28, all night at Mohawk Bend in Echo Park is offering a three-course dinner dedicated to their out-of-state brewery of the month, Epic Brewing ($40 per person). Menu items will include Smoked trout (with “funeral potatoes” and market salad) paired with Pfeifferhorn Lager as well as Braised lamb shanks (with soft polenta, market asparagus, and herbed lamb jus) paired with Copper Cone Pale. On Thursday, March 29 at 7 PM, Locanda del Lago in Santa Monica is continuing their “Morso della Bestia” (Bite of the Beast) dinner series featuring a different whole animal each month. For the month of March, Executive Chef Gianfranco Minuz will highlight Santa Barbara sea bass with a five-course meal ($48 per person, including unlimited litros of house red and white wine; $36 per person without the wine).
