Who says New York has to have all the delis? While taking a break from shopping along Melrose Avenue’s famous boutiques, Los Angeles natives and visitors will soon be able to stop by Marcona, an East Coast-style deli with Mediterranean influences and West Coast flare. Gourmet sandwiches will be prominently featured on the menu created by Chef Matthew Moss, such as a Merguez sausage-filled “Spanish gyro” and a spiced pork shoulder “Lomo.” Vegan options will be available with choices like the “V.B.Q,” a barbeque vegan meatloaf. And fear not, Marcona hasn’t forgotten those in the mood for a more traditional deli menu. East Coast deli staples such as a “Turkey Romesco” and a “Bodega” will be available every day.
For those looking for something sweet, New York pastry chef Janna Leone will have a selection of treats available both in-shop or by special order. Aside from the deli, Marcona will also include a small retail section, selling dry goods and fine foods created both in-house and under private label.
