What can $500 buy now a days? A Dyson DC25? An iPad 2? How about a caviar tasting with Top Chef Season 2 runner-up Marcel Vigneron? Suit or dress up Tuesday, November 15 for an event at a private home in Bel-Air benefiting the Harold Robinson Foundation, a charity dedicated to underprivileged children, as they’re throwing the “Beverly Hills Caviar Tasting.”
The event includes a smoked alligator, a sturgeon from which Osetra caviar is harvested, and a giant Alaskan smoked salmon. The event also comes with champagne, live piano, and performances by the Malibu String Quartet. Tickets are $500 in advance, and if you want to roll bigger, for $1,500 you can get limo transportation to and from the event and a $1,000 gift bag containing caviar facial serum, gift certificates from leading LA restaurants. Ten vegan bakers competing for the title of 'best vegan cupcake' in L.A.
The ladies behind Urban Food Crawl, a weekly vegan food tour of downtown L.A., are back with another vegan-friendly event called “Cupcake + Art“, a vegan cupcake competition where you get to be the judge. The event plans to feature ten bakers from the Los Angeles area competing for the title of the best vegan cupcake around town. The participating bakers include Food Network’s Cupcake Wars’ Kim Aeck and Kim Thurman of Bake You Happy, Clara Polito of Clara’s Cakes, and more. CANFEST, Reno’s International Canned Beer Festival is making its way back to Reno on November 12. Canned beer continues to shed it’s inferior reputation, partly due to events like CANFEST, which was the first international canned beer festival. They attribute the interest because beer drinkers “realize that cans offer superior protection from sunlight and oxygen infiltration.” According to the craftcans.com database, over 130 craft breweries can at least one of their beers.
