Mendocino Farms- LA Bacon Fest 2013

This year’s inaugural LA Bacon Fest 2013 hosted at the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles, CA went out with a huge oink – – we mean — bang! Who would have known that Los Angeles patrons were as eager as we were to devour ridiculous amounts of bacon? Hmm, wait. Yeah, that should’ve been a given. VIP tickets gave patrons access an hour before the “General Admission” crowd, but we kid you not when we say that the venue was already jam-packed with fellow booze and bacon lovers!

The festival hosted over 45 restaurants, bakeries and caterers all showcasing their signature bacon dishes. From smoked Rhode Island- styled clam chowder with braised pork belly to candied bacon skewers and even bacon-infused ice cream, the inaugural LA Bacon Fest catered to all. Featured vendors included Grub, Umami’s PIGG, CoolHaus, Public Kitchen, Abigaile, Big Wangs, Sugarbird, Mendocino Farms, Lobos and much more!

VIP entry included unlimited tastings from each savory or sweet vendor as well tastings from the 20 participating breweries and distilleries at the event! Full sized brews from Karl Strauss, Hangar 24, Firestone, Sierra Nevada and Drake’s were the perfect compliment to the large array of bacon-y dishes. Wandering over to the VIP section, event goers found creative cocktails from Aviation Gin, Fireball Whisky, New Amsterdam and Bakon Vodka (yes, we’re serious) were being served. Did we mention the ever-popular photo booth and makeshift barber shop? Again, we’re serious.

LA Bacon Fest proved to be excitingly eccentric in every which way. If you missed it this year, shame on you! We’re kidding. Just make it a point to purchase your tickets early for LA Bacon Fest 2014. The event sold out quickly, and we’re absolutely sure it’ll be the same for next years!
