LA Weekly‘s 4th annual cuisine celebration, Gold Standard, returns to the Petersen Automotive Museum. Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold has selected his 40 LA restaurants which include Animal, Drago Centro, Little Dom’s, MB Post, Short Order and more for you to sample in one location. The Wine House will also be representing over 30 top-shelf wineries, all pouring their favorite vintages. Event is on March 4, from 1 to 5 PM. Tickets for Coachella Wine Festival now on sale

February 23 - 26, 2012


The tickets for the four day (February 23 – 26) Coachella Wine Festival in La Qunita, CA held at the Embassy Suites La Quinta Hotel & Spa is now on sale. The event features a golf tournament, two-day grand tasting, two winemaker dinners, and a dessert soiree. Tickets range from $45 for single tickets to VIP all-event passes for $395 per person. 14 wineries will be present including: Ahnfeldt Wines, Foley Family Wines, Firestone Vineyard, Kristian Story Wines, and Summerland Winery. Virgin America flying to Philly, American Airlines and Japan Airlines’ fare sale

California based Virgin America is set to fly nonstop from LAX and SFO to PHL starting on April 10, 2012. This is the airlines’ 17 expansion within the last four years. To celebrate the launch of the new fly route, VA is launching “The City of Brotherly Love: Just Got Lovelier” sale with fares starting at $129. Sale is now available (must book by January 20).

To celebrate America Airlines and Japan Airlines‘ launch of their new service between Boston and Tokyo/Narita they are offering a fare sale valid for travel through April 1, 2012. Tickets must be purchased by January 30, 2012. Here are some sample round-trip fares: Dallas/Fort Worth to Tokyo for $538; Chicago to Beijing for $615; Los Angeles to Shanghai for $384. Sale is available now.

Doc’s of the Bay opening two new food truck locations, Dell’Uva celebrates the 49ers playoff berth

With permits in hand, Doc’s of the Bay, is opening two new locations in San Francisco’s Financial and Mission districts. They are expecting to be in front of the TransAmerica Pyramid on Washington Street every Wednesday for lunch from 11 AM to 2 PM. Another food cart will be on 22nd Street and Mission Street in the Mission District every Saturday for dinner from 6 to 9 PM. Both of these locations should be up by the end of January.
